3-Axis Analog Joystick for iPhone and Android
A group of researcher at Keio University has developed a 3-Axis analog joystick for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and Android device that uses the front facing camera of the device as the 3-Axis input sensor. Unlike other iPhone analog joystick device which uses the touchscreen sensor, this camera joystick device fits on the front facing camera with small markers underneath it. By tracking how the joystick’s markers are moving the 3-Axis joystick system sends variety of inputs to the mobile device. It can track the regular vertical and horizontal movement including a 3rd Axis movement as the joystick has been pushed down.
