AnalogX Vocal Remover is a free vocal remover tool for Winamp and DirectX audio that will turn off the vocals form a song track to emphasize on the music. Currently AnalogX Vocal Remover removes vocals much in the same way the hardware devices do - by making the assumption that vocals are usually recorded equally on both channels, while the music itself is not. By making this assumption, you can remove whatever is the same in both channels by changing their phase relationship by 180 degrees, and then summing the two channels.
AnalogX Vocal Remover requires a stereo (2 channel) stream to work properly, at either 16bit or 32bit. The vocal remover works on many of the stereo recordings available on the market, the vocals are not completely removed in most cases, but they are low enough that you usually can barely hear them. With MP3 it may makes some of the audio artifacts much more noticeable than the DirectX version, that will give you more cleaner voice removal results.
