Windows 8 Start Charming is a alternative start screen interface that allows full control of your desktop. The great thing about the Windows 7 Start menu is you could still see and access the desktop, the system tray and the title bar of your programs while it was active, Start Charming brings this to Windows 8. Windows 8 Start Charming does not add a start button, but makes the Start interface more user friendly by allowing clicks to the user desktop while it is active.
When you launch Windows 8 Start Charming directly, it shows the Apps and Search interface in a small window, a more user friendly fashion than full immersion. It disabled the “full screen” feature of Metro apps and will display the list of Windows 8 applications without leaving the desktop. This mini version of Windows 8 Start Screen is meant mostly for traditional mouse and keyboard workstations, and will not run on Windows 8 RT (arm processor).
