‘Ok Google’ Hand-Free Google Voice Search for Desktop
Slowly but surely Google is narrowing down its mobile and desktop voice search and Google Now experience. As Google rolled out hand-free voice search feature with its latest Android version Kitkat, it is now offering its Chrome user a similar intelligent personal assistant feature that allows them to search by only voice, without using mouse or keyboard. Now you can talk to Google when you're on Google.com using Chrome. Simply say “Ok Google” and then — ask any question, convert units, add reminder on Google Now using your voice. As in Google mobile voice search, Google desktop search assistant will answer you in voice is your question fits in that category.
How to use Hand-Free Google Voice Search on Desktop:
1) Download the Google Voice Search Hotword (beta) extension for Chrome.
2) Click “agree” to give your permission to use your microphone.
3) Visit Google.com on Chrome and give it a try. Just say “Ok Google” and then ask your question.
Note: this extension sends your question to Google only when it hears the phrase “Ok Google.” If you enable this feature, Chrome will listen for you to say "Ok Google" and then send the sound of the next thing you say, plus a few seconds before, to Google.
