Bust its become difficult to protect a large number of files and keep it up-to-date while it is updating frequently. Free Real-Time File Backup and Restore
Yadis! Backup is a free real-time backup and synchronizing application that can protect your valuable data. With Yadis! Backup, you can easily create restore points for your important files, in order to be prepared in case of hardware malfunctions. It's intuitive design will guide you through a few steps, and before you know it, your personal data is brought in safety. After a backup task is finished, you can access extra options by bringing up the context menu, and by doing so, you can restore the files contained in the backup file.
Yadis Backup fully allows you to decide what to backup and where to backup them. It copies one on one your files to almost any destination you want. You don't need Yadis to access the backed-up files. The marked folders are backed-up real-time (no scheduling needed!). If there is a change or update in the file, Yadis! Backup will create a new backup automatically. It remembers the changes you have made. You could also specify FTP destinations for remote server backup. When your backup destination isn't available, Yadis! remembers the changes you have made. Whenever the location becomes available Yadis! starts backing up the changes.
How To Create Backup Task
When Yadis! Backup starts for the first time and you finished the initial settings wizard. Click the "New" button to start creating a new backup task. The "New task" screen that appears depends on the choice you made in the initial settings wizard. If you specified "I think I am a novice" then you will get the basic options for a new task, else if you specified "I am an expert" then you will get both basic and advanced options presented.
From General > Type section, You can choose between a "General" task, a "backup your Windows Favorites" task or a "Ftp" task. At this point we'll discuss the "General" task. Task mode is set to standard because of the "I think I am a novice" choice. Click here if you want to jump to the advanced section. Once you checked the "General Task" press Next, it will take you to the General > Name section. In this section you specify the name for your task and a short description. The name will be shown in the main screen of Yadis, so choose a name that represents the purpose of this task well.
Select Backup Location
After finishing the "General" section we now come to the "Files" section. First specify the source location. This is the root folder that contains the files and sub-folders you want to backup. Then specify the target location. This is the folder where all files will be back-upped. For both locations you can use a directory browser by pressing the "Browse" button. Onchave specifiedcified the target folder the "Type" description will be filled with one of the following directives:
- Network: the target is located on a network share.
- Removable:the target is located on any removable media such as USB key, SD card...
- DVD:the target is located on a writable DVD or CD disk
- Fixed: the target drive is located on a physical hardrive in your pc. (This is not recommended.)
- Unknown: the system could not determine the type of device.
This happens when the device is not available (such as detached network drive or unplugged USB key)
At this time the "Next" button has changed into a "Save" button. This means that enough information is available and you can end the configuration of your task here. Press "Save" to save the task. If the device type of the target is any other than Fixed, Yadis! Backup will ask you if you trust this location outside your PC.
