BigStash is a new file storage service that is offering 5 Terabytes of free online storage for one year. BigStash is effectively the attic for your digital stuff. You put everything in the equivalent of a box and stash it away. With this 5000 Gigabytes (5 TB) of cloud store you can archive your lossless RAW photos, uncut video footage, multi-channel audio recordings on the cloud.
BigStash stores your files in Amazon's Glacier service. This is an extremely reliable service (sometimes called “cold storage”), which uses a combination of technologies and procedures that keep hosting costs at a minimum, but files are not available in real time. Once a stored archive is requested from Amazon Glacier, it may take up to four hours before it becomes available.
BigStash cloud storage service focuses on providing an archive space for all the old files that you rarely need, but still don’t want to completely delete or lose access to. It’s ideal for taking backups of your old, inactive projects, backup copies, last year's invoices. Active project snapshots. Stuff you won’t need in the near future, you can store them on BigStash. Since this is all about digital boxes, you can have a version of some files and folders safely stashed away with us while you are working on another copy. Decide you made a mistake? The original is in your BigStash.
You can upload your files using BigStash apps from your Windows and Mac computer. If you already have the files you'd like to copy to BigStash in Dropbox, you can also upload them directly from your Dropbox account. BigStash servers copy the files you indicate directly from the Dropbox servers, making this a fast and extremely effortless process. When you need some or all of your files, request to download a few hours in advance. The only limitation is that you will have to wait up to four hours for your files to be fetched, when you need them. After using 5 TB free storage for one year you can upgrade your account for paid service.
